
Vera Marisa Costa, UCIBIO-i4HB researcher from the Toxicology Lab at UCIBIO-FFUP, has been recognized with the Nunes Correa Verdades de Faria Award 2024 in Area C – “Progress in the Treatment of Heart Diseases.” The award is granted by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa and highlights her innovative work on cardiotoxicity, focusing on the cardiovascular health of cancer treated patients.
The award ceremony took place at the Faria Mantero residence in Lisbon, on December 18, 2024, commemorating the birthday of the awards' founder, Enrique Mantero Belard. Since their establishment in 1987, these awards have celebrated individuals and institutions in Portugal who excel in improving the lives of the elderly and advancing medical and cardiovascular sciences.
This recognition underscores Vera Costa’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by cardiotoxicity, particularly in the field of cardio-oncology, and her contribution to advancing cardiovascular health.
