In January 2025, UCIBIO hosted the BioData.pt Roadshow, an event focused on empowering and engaging researchers in bioinformatics and data management in the life and health sciences. The initiative featured presentations by Inês Chaves, Executive Director of BioData.pt and Deputy Head of ELIXIR-PT, and Luciana Peixoto, Head of Communities, Communication, and Events at BioData.pt and Training Coordinator of ELIXIR-PT.
The session began with a presentation on how BioData.pt supports research and innovation at UCIBIO, followed by an interactive coffee break. During this break, researchers had the opportunity to discuss the impact of BioData.pt’s infrastructure on their work and best practices for scientific data management.
BioData.pt is a research infrastructure responsible for managing the Portuguese node of the European ELIXIR network. It offers services that facilitate the access, storage, processing, and analysis of biological data. With 15 associated institutions across the country, BioData.pt has been part of the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures since 2013 and participates in numerous European projects and the ELIXIR network.
This event underscored the importance of data management in driving scientific advancement and innovation in Portugal, providing UCIBIO researchers with a platform to strengthen their skills in this critical area.
