Short-bio:
Dr. Sainz earned his PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Tulane University in the USA in 2015 and is currently a Group Leader at the Sols-Morreale Institute for Biomedical Research (IIBM), which is a joint CSIC-UAM center. He is also co-coordinator of Area 3 (Cancer) at the Ramón y Cajal Institute for Health Research (IRYCIS). He leads both the Cancer Stem Cells and Fibroinflammatory Microenvironment at the IIBM and the Biomarkers and Personalized Approach to Cancer Group (BioPAC) at the IRYCIS, where his teams focus on cancer stem cells in pancreatic cancer and personalised approaches to treating PDAC. Dr. Sainz’s accomplishments and the work of his laboratory have resulted in more than 110 publications in journals like Gut, Cancer Cell, Nature Communications, Nature Medicine, etc, as well as multiple national and international grants and several patents.
